In Conversation with Adrian Ghenie, 2013

I met Adrian Ghenie in 2013, when he made a vibrant impression over the artistic world. Back then he was very present in the media, but I wanted to hear a better story. It's only now I decided to restart the search of a convenient platform to publish our discussion. Thanks to Les Nouveaux Riches Magazine you can read now a shortened version of this dialogue.  Here is the extended one. Sibi - Bogdan Teodorescu, 2013, Untitled (Portrait of A. G.) , collage Adrian Ghenie: I’m sorry that we’re meeting a bit later, but I’ve been painting until late last night, almost until morning. Bogdan Teodorescu: Thank you for making time for me. AG: Sometimes I get some of the students to help me. Nowadays I work with very large surfaces and I leave some things in the hands of others. It helps. What is your story? BT: I wanted to meet you for an interview, because I think it’s essential to personally meet the people who inspire me and with whom I can have a lively exchange of ideas. I unders

14 questions for Domenico de CHIRICO

Previously published in Revista Arta / Arta Magazine, no. 14-15/ 2015 © Chris Lorenzi Bogdan Teodorescu: Which are a curator's best features? Domenico de Chirico: The question is vague and implies several approaches. For issues related to an easy reading, I prefer a set of elements which are in my opinion, pivotal: the eye, the instinct, a thorough knowledge of art history and philosophy of aesthetics at the same time, curiosity, being up to date, placements, and, despite my personal opinion, even to market dynamics. BT: Do you often pick your artists and projects rather than being picked by others to work with? DdC: It depends on the circumstances, but it's all the games around it, which I don't particularly appreciate. BT: Is a specialized curator preferred to an occasional one (for example artists who manage their shows)? If yes, why? DdC: Sometimes it could be essential to meet special demands. BT: You are really very popular and very young! DdC: I feel m

François DEY, Are You OK?

This interview was previously published in Revista Arta / Arta Magazine, no. 18/ 2016 under the title CLEARNESS MEANS HONESTY    François Dey, To Do This Week, 2011, G alerie van Gelder   Bogdan Teodorescu: Are you in good shape for the interview?  François Dey: Yeah, just got out of the swimming pool, it always gives me total power!  BT: First, do you believe in success?  FD: I guess I do somehow, but I try to shift it into a more personal form of success, like enlightenment for example. This is real success. But likewise it would be interesting to see how what I found to be mine I can offer to others, bringing them something, which is very difficult to measure. It’s a matter of exchange. That’s similar with the limitations of a medium; a painting in a room for example, makes me feel it’s not enough. I often feel I want to interact and perform by acting directly on something. Speaking about success, it’s funny how artists, or at least some of them, see themselves as one of the gre
